Tempe Town Lake is the go to spot for walking, biking, boat rentals and paddle boarding! You can spend a whole day out in the sun and thank goodness we don’t start to cool off till late October Early November.
You don’t need experience to rent a paddle boat or boat. All you need to get started is a matching credit/debit card and photo ID from someone over the age on 18. You have to be 18 and older or 12 and older, depending on boat, to operate it. A contract must be signed by an adult. There is no age limit for passengers though some boats have safety requirements. Life jackets are recommended for everyone but is required for children under the age of 13 and they are provided.
Food and drinks are allowed, try and bring a small cooler due to the limited space on some boats. No Alcohol. No swimming. Pets are allowed but only on non electric boats and pets can impact the weight and passenger capacity of the boats and will be counter towards your passenger count.
The minimum rental time is 1 hour minimum then prorated in 15 minute intervals. The Lake is 2 miles long by 1/4 mile wide. You must make a reservation 24 hours in advance and cancel your reservation 24 hours in advance.
Parking is on south side of the lake next to Mill Ave. Bridge. You can park at the Tempe Beach parking lot off of Rio Salado as well.
